The Red River Blues Kicking off 2016 we ere very happy to welcome Red River Blues back to Garway live!  Formed in  2011, the 5 piece band fuses jazz, rock, funk, soul and blues to create an energetic mix of original material and innovative covers. The current line-up have been performing together for the last two years, although as musicians they played more years than there were notes in one of their guitar solos.  Great, uplifting sounds to chase away the winter blues!  Bella Collins and Gareth Evans Bella was accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Gareth Evans. The dynamic guitar duo featured the  richly mature and easy flowing vocals of Bella supported by the slick improvised guitar work of Gareth. With influences from the great jazz era artists such as Joe Pass, Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, the duo also took inspiration from more contemporary artists such as Amy Winehouse and Prince. They covered a variety of genre's, specialising in blues & jazz, incorporating a mix of popular songs, timeless classics and original works.   The Pollen Count Band                                       The Pollen Count are a new band with a serious pedigree indeed. Four fabulously talented musicians who between them have played with and supported such luminaries as Sir Elton, Joe Cocker, Santana, Robert Plant, Eric Clapton, The Who and Bob Dylan and graced the stages of such iconic venues as The Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Arena and Glastonbury.    Bruise After a decade of cutting a maverick swathe through the industry Bruise have four albums, thousands of gigs, US and European festival appearances, airplay from Japan to the US and a reputation to be proud of. Travelling world wide to deliver stylish and emotive performances this duo are probably Britains best kept secret. A leafy, free spirited town full of artists and musicians. Raised on a diet of Dr John, The Meters and Captain Beefheart they’re all about the groove. With clever story telling lyrics their sound is infectious and will move your mind and body in equal measures. They can be dangerously wild live, whipping a crowd into a frothing frenzy, then soothe them with a delicate Latin tinged vibe. If you catch them out-and-about we highly recommend you take your dancing shoes and a voodoo charm.    Amy Wadge and Pete Riley Amy is widely regarded as one of the country's most successful  female singer/songwriters. Over the course of  five solo albums,  two collaborations, numerous compositions for other artists and  hundreds of live  performances all over the globe, she has  established an outstanding body of work. Her voice was simply   amazing with a breathtaking range and emotional impact while  her songwriting continues to surpass most of her contemporaries.   From the Hollywood Hills to Garway Live! Instead of a live band or a theatrical performance, Garway resident Graham Bevan were in conversation with his old school friend Keith Williams.  Keith was the brains behind the first pop video shown on MTV, 'Video killed the Radio Star' by the 'Buggles' and masterminded most of the videos seen on TV during the 70's & 80's. It was a fun filled, informative evening watching the videos he created and listening to a man who could hold an audience fascinated with his tales.    Pieces of Mind The Pieces of Mind were a very popular R&B band in South Wales and Germany in the years 1963-69. The band reformed in 2013 to celebrate the 50th. Anniversary of forming in 1963 and is now gigging again. They were great!! Lowri Evans Described by Bob Harris as a “wonderful singer songwriter”, what connects Everyone Is From Somewhere Else to its predecessors - especially 2013’s well received Corner of My Eye - is Lowri’s sublime vocals. Blessed with “a voice so distinct and special that she sings as easy as one breathes” (Fish Records), Lowri has that rare ability to immediately bond with an audience, transporting them to the emotional heartland of every song she sings Henry Priestman In 2009, Henry (who wrote all those hits for The Christians in the 80’s, and Yachts’ songs in the 70’s) reinvented himself as a singer-songwriter, and released his debut solo CD “The Chronicles of Modern Life” to critical acclaim, and singles from the album (including “Grey’s The New Blonde”) made it onto the Radio 2 playlist.  “It’s absolutely brilliant.....he’s found his voice!” Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2 We had songs from both solo albums, a smattering of the songs he wrote for The Christians (eg Ideal World, Forgotten Town, Born Again, etc), and even some newies. Pollen Count Was back by popular demand for our Christmas gig - some of you left saying it was one of our best ever gigs, high praise indeed!  For those who missed The Pollen Count got Christmas celebrations off to a wonderful start. The Pollen Count are a new band with a serious pedigree indeed. Four fabulously talented musicians who between them have played with and supported such luminaries as Sir Elton John, Joe Cocker, Santana, Robert Plant, Eric Clapton, The Who and Bob Dylan and graced the stages of such iconic venues as The Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Arena and Glastonbury. As a unit, they create beautiful, coherent soundscapes of music, presented very naturally and it’s very hard not to be impressed by the sheer level of detail that this band unearths.
